Speaker Bios

Dr. Jennifer Richards BSc, DVM CPDT-KA, KPA- CTP, Resident of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists

Dr. Richards earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Calgary. During this time, she began working with the behaviour team and the Calgary Humane Society, where she taught classes, provided one-on-one training and behaviour modification, and helped shelter dogs work through behaviour concerns increasing their adoptability. Dr. Richards is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, and a Fear Free Certified veterinary professional. 

After graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016, Dr. Richards completed a rotating small animal internship at the University of Calgary and VCA Canada CARE Centre. Following her internship Dr. Richards purchased Sundance Animal Hospital where she has been practicing for 7 years. In 2023, Dr. Richards enrolled in a veterinary behaviour residency under the mentorship of Dr. Elizabeth Feltes (DVM, DACVB).  Dr. Richards is excited to be opening Calgary Veterinary Wellness and Training Centre, in 2025, a behaviour-oriented facility with the capacity for on-site training and behaviour modification.
