Name: Dr. Terri Schiller

Dr. Schiller is an Aggie graduate from the University of British Columbia. She received her DVM degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 1987. Following graduation she spent 5 years at the North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine completing a small animal internship, a 3 year surgical residency and a 1 year clinical instructor faculty position. She has practiced all aspects of orthopedic, soft tissue, oncologic and neurologic surgical procedures.

 

Dr. Schiller was a founding partner of the Canada West Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Vancouver where she offered referral surgical services for 19 years. In 2011 she crossed the rockies and joined the specialist team at VCA Canada Western Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Centre where she continues to provide part-time surgical services.

 

During her surgery residency, Dr. Schiller developed a strong interest and skill set in total joint replacement. She has been a continuing education workshop instructor for Biomedtrix of Movora since 2003 and sits as a member on their Scientific Advisory Board. She is recognized as a world expert in companion animal total hip replacement and has provided training and mentorship to numerous trainees and surgeons in North America, Europe and Asia looking to gain expertise in this procedure.

 

Dr. Schiller is passionate about teaching and advancing the skill sets of veterinarians and students. She has been an instructor with the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine for the past 10 years, teaching small animal surgery and clinical communication. Her happiest moments are when she is sharing her experiences and knowledge with others.
