Description:

Raw food feeding has become very popular in the last 30 years. Home-made raw food has been a trend for many years, and multiple companies produce raw food diets for sale in many pet stores and veterinary clinics. This talk will review the peer-reviewed science around raw food diets to help clinicians determine if this diet is nutritious and safe for pets, and if the food is safe for the pet parents feeding it.

2 CE credits approved by ABVMA, pending approval from CVBC. SK & MB self-declare (ABVMA follows RACE guidelines).

You will need to pay for parking in Lot 6.

Registration & dinner from 6-6:45pm in the HMRB Atrium. The session will start at 7pm sharp. Make your way up to Theatre 3 prior to 7pm.

CAVM & The Military Museums of Calgary, Alberta are pleased to invite you to an exclusive event....
"Blood, Sweat, and Tears: Canadian Military Medicine & The Canadian Army Veterinary Corp (CAVC) in WWI" with speacial guest speaker Dr. Andrew McEwen.

Presentation Description:
In WWI, horses and mules played a crucial role in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. The Canadian Corps in Europe comprised of four Divisions comprising 60,000 soldiers and 24,000 horses and mules. This presentation will be an overview of the epic efforts of the relatively small forces of Canadian Army Veterinary Corp (CAVC) who cared for and healed the animals in their custody. Only 73 Veterinary Officers and 780 other ranks presided over a truly living and breathing transportation system. The presentation will be an overview of how Corps cared for and treated diseased, wounded, exhausted, malnourished, and exposed animals. Andrew’s study is notedly recognized by Veterinary and Veterinary Historians as one of the most comprehensive studies of Contribution of CAVC in WWI.
